March is said to come in like a lion. Have you ever heard that expression? The beginning of the month is supposed to come in more harshly with cold temps while the end of the month has milder days.
March is a long month, but we do have a few things to look forward. First, we will celebrate Pi Day next Friday. I'm sure most students are looking forward to having a shortened school day next Wednesday for an Early release, and before you know it, we will have another week off for Spring Break. Hang in there and do your best! We will be focusing on the heart of the semester over the next few weeks, and these functions families are very important! Polynomials, Radicals, and Rational functions are critical in so many areas, and I want you to be well-versed in them by the end of the semester. You can do this! Dr. Gammill

1) I have updated grades with everything.... homeworks, tests, deltamath bonuses, and anything you did during the lab day. Check it. If there needs to be a correction, talk to me about it after class on Monday or email me!
2) I am in the process of registering students for their next math course - either Precalculus or Statistics - based on your grade and your post-secondary interest. 3) I will be out next Tuesday through Thursday for the State Standards Review. You will use the page: https://drgammill.weebly.com/february-25th-26th-and-27th.html and the substitute's directions to complete assignments on the computer during this time. Don't waste the opportunity. If you are out, you can still access the correspond page and deltamath assignment online at home. It is due on Thursday by 3:30. Enjoy your weekend! Dr. Gammill [email protected] I've posted some important links to help you learn how to graph polynomials.
I hope it helps, Dr. G I hope you do! You have a test on graphing polynomials this week. I've posted some VERY helpful instructional videos on the Unit 3a page. PLEASE check the out if you are struggling to bring all of these details together.
Wednesday is computer lab day. Please use this time wisely to retake a test, work on homework, or go after some bonus points. Thursday we review. Friday test. No homework over the break. I hope y'all rest up, have fun, and come back refreshed. <3 Dr. Gammill I emailed out the following to all students and teachers today: Good Afternoon, I just wanted to touch base with you about what is happening in Algebra II over the next couple weeks. First, there is a test tomorrow over polynomial operations. The corresponding deltamath assignment is also due tomorrow morning. On Friday, we begin graphing polynomial functions. The test and due date for the corresponding deltamath assignment is next Friday. Students will be allowed one notecard – with their handwritten notes - for the polynomial graphing test. Next Wednesday will be a computer lab day. This will be a day when students can recover a grade through deltamath – either retake the Unit 1 or Unit 2 Test or improve a previous homework grade. If students do not need to work on any of these assignments, a bonus activity (for test points) will be available as well. There will not be any homework over the Winter Break. When we get back from the break, we will work on solving polynomial equations. Finally, it is critical that students bring back-up expo markers. With a 360 classroom (https://drgammill.weebly.com/360-classroom.html) , expo markers are liquid gold. I have enough for a class set, but they are running low at this point. PLEASE buy some expo markers to last your student for the rest of the semester. Some of them are growing legs are walking off, but with 80 students I simply do not have the resources to keep replacing the markers. Boardwork is a critical component of student engagement and teacher feedback in this course. Please make sure your child is prepared for class with backup dry erase markers.

Today, students took a test on Unit 1b. There will be a retake for both Unit 1a and Unit 1b test allowed this Saturday; keep in mind that the paperwork for Saturday School must be completed and returned to me tomorrow. We will start unit 2 tomorrow. It is pretty short, but it is a nice precursor to the giant unit of polynomials. Students will learn about different operations with polynomials. The test will be next week. I should have the tests from this unit completed by Friday. I will also be putting deltamath Unit 1b grades in today. Best, Dr. Gammill Welcome to a case of the Mondays on Tuesday...
It was cold outside, and everyone seems a little sleepier than usual. We will make it to February, y'all. Hang in there. Right now, we will focus on solving Quadratic Equations that have complex solutions. The new Deltamath assignment is up, and you can find resources on the Unit 1b page (officially up). After being out for three days, my #1 priority is to get caught up on grading. Thank you for your patience. It will get done. I like to enter all grades at one time. I have a daily grade and deltamath ready to go. I just need to get the Unit 1a tests done. Don't forget that I'm here for extra help on Tuesdays and Thursdays (until 4:15) if you need it. Best, Dr. Gammill Hi there,
I will be out for the rest of the week to participate in the Advanced Algebra Standards Review process for the Department of Education. Here is an agenda to keep in mind.
Email me with any questions. I look forward to seeing all my lovely students next Tuesday! Thanks, Dr. Gammill Good Morning,
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about important dates that are coming up.
Email me anytime - [email protected] Best, Dr. Gammill Welcome all parents and students of Algebra II, Spring Semester. I am thankful for another new year and semester to teach Algebra II. If you have found your way to the site, I'm sure you are wondering what is in store for the semester, and what you must get done right now.
This semester, we will cover new function families including polynomials, rational functions, and logarithmic functions. We will cover these topics and break down the units between solving equations and graph analysis. We will also discuss different topics related to statistics. To start the semester off strong, I recommend:
Again, welcome back! This semester will include triumphs and challenges. The most important thing you can do to be successful is persist and communicate. I am happy to be to facilitate that journey. Best, Dr. Gammill |
